You will learn to use professional equipment, though you can also follow along with lower‑level gear. All source files are included.

TUTORIAL OVERVIEW

This tutorial will cover a very large number of in‑depth topics.

  • Vertical surface scanning – In this chapter we will showcase how to scan multiple types of vertical surfaces using a professional camera and a gimbal.

  • Ground surface scanning – In this chapter we will showcase how to scan ground surfaces using both an advanced rig (tripod, specialized lights and a camera) and a faster method using a gimbal and camera.

  • Scanning organic and urban objects – In these chapters we will go over how to scan both organic and urban objects, and how to turn them into game‑ready assets.

  • Photometric stereo scanning – In this chapter we will showcase how to scan leaves and small bits of foliage using photometric stereo. Next to this we also include a bonus workflow on how to scan leaves and branches outdoors.

  • Turntable scanning – In this chapter we will go over how to scan small to medium‑scale objects using an automated turntable setup.

  • Tree scanning and processing – In this chapter we will showcase how to scan a tree and, together with the scanned leaves and branches, turn it into a fully fledged game‑ready tree.

  • Mobile scanning – In this chapter we will show how to scan objects using your phone and compare them to a DSLR camera.

The general takeaway of this tutorial is that at the end, you will have advanced knowledge on how to create various types of photogrammetry content, and you can apply this knowledge to bring your artwork to new heights!
